Invitation to a Shade-Donation Event

Being able to invite you to our shade-donation event makes us beam brightly with joy. SKIA, the publishers for shade, would like to welcome you to Spichern Höfe from January 19 - 25, and ask you to become part of our exhibition. Donate your shade! And let your generosity be rewarded – with a serious receipt for a charitable contribution. Because despite the shady business we passionately push, and are publicly presenting for the first time, we at SKIA pursue a solid goal: The design of shade – a subject which has been ignored by the design world so far.

But those days are over. Since autumn 2003, four design teams have been tackling this task (see the press release of December 13th). Designer Volker Albus from Frankfurt has only been in the running a short while. Under the motto »bonkers for soccer«, he has designed special soccer-like products in time for the World Cup in 2006. These products are also being presented as part of PASSAGEN (Maastrichter Str. 10). And because he was so enthusiastic when he heard about our shady activities, he added (together with Francisco Giraudo and Knuth Hornbogen) an additional product to the world’s first collection of beautiful shade-donors: a pavilion in the form of a soccer ball.

Despite the short time remaining until PASSAGEN, we are absolutely determined to make this shade-maker reality. It will be called »Helmut.« Which may give you an idea (if you are a soccer fan, that is) of what is being celebrated during the shade-donation event: »The Miracle of Cologne«.
